Dear Zindagi Review – Critics Talk, Rating & World Of Mouth

Featuring Alia Bhatt in the central character, Dear Zindagi narrates the story of a 20 something working girl called Kaira who, after a series of heart breaks meets Jehangir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), a shrink. The slice-of-life film has been generating a lot of buzz ever since its first teaser came out, partly because of its interesting, quirky dialogues and also because of the uncanny pairing of SRK and Alia Bhatt.

Our overall critic’s rating is not an average of the sub scores below.

Direction: 3.5/5
Dialogues: 3.5/5
Story: 3/5
Music: 3/5
Visual appeal: 4/5

Dear Zindagi Movie Story

The storyline and Alia and Shah Rukh’s power-packed performances have wowed the viewers. With such massive response, the film will surely make movie-goers throng into the theatres despite the demonetisation drive.

Gauri Shinde does a half-decent job in the movie. The director, whose English Vinglish was a landmark film and did not leave you without a smile or a tear, seems oddly laid-back in Dear Zindagi. Maybe we began expecting too much from Shinde after her first film.

Dear Zindagi Review – Star Performances

Alia Bhatt is talented no doubt and gives a measured performance in this film. She particularly shines in the scenes where her character breaks down. We are reminded a lot of her Highway character in certain scenes, such as the one where she confronts her family, although this time, you don’t really feel the same pain.

Shah Rukh Khan as the uber cool shrink, Jug is simply adorable. Flashing his dimples, playing his age and a matured dressing, all put him in the likable category.
